Harshana wins Silver Medal at Western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2019

 

Harshana Thilakarathne, the National Chess Champion won the Silver Medal of the western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2019 yesterday. The event was held at New Delhi, India from 4th to 11th September 2019. Sri Lanka field a 16 member National Youth chess Team for the event.Harshana was the only player who could achieve a medal at the standard Chess event. He also shined by winning the Silver Medal at the Western Asian Youth Blitz Chess Championship 2019.Devnethmi Dahampriya also shined winning the Bronze Medal at the Western Asian Rapid Youth Chess Championship 2019 - Under 16 Girls event.
