Mr. Manuel Aaron gave Simultaneous Chess Displays and Lectures in different places in Colombo. They were greatly appreciated. Aaron’s programmes were organized by Lanka Chess Foundation and its Chief Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya who is herself chess celebrity by having won the Sri Lankan National Women Chess Championship ten times and a Gold Medal in the 1992 World Chess Olympiad at Manila.
Mr. Aaron played 6 simultaneous chess displays 3 of them in the Russian Centre Auditorium with 79 players and at the Lions Activity Centre, Colombo with 21 players.
Among all the games that he played Aaron lost only one game and drew one game. IM Aaron who first visit to Sri Lanka was in 1969, remarked that chess in Sri Lanka has steadily improved over the years as is evident from Oshadi Kottahachchy winning the Bronze Medal in the World Youth Chess Olympiad at Turkey this August.
