Annual Award Ceremony of the Golden Square International Chess Association

The Annual Award Ceremony of the Golden Square International Chess Association was held at the Auditorium of Public Library, Colombo 07. Mr. Ayrat Akhmetov, the First Secretary of the Russian Embassy and the Director of Russian Centre graced the ceremony as their Chief Guest. Professor Mrs. Ksanika Hirimburegama, Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo and Mr. Ramal Jasinghe, President of Mercantile Chess Association and the Chief Executive Officer also graced the event as Guests of Honour.

Madam Kumuduni, Principal of Rathnavalli Ballika Vidyalaya, Colombo and Mr.Buddhapriya Ramanayake, CEO of Russian Centre and Mr. Irosh Jayasinghe, International Arbiter Also were attended in this function. There were about 200 prize winners together with another 200 parents were participated. Ananda College and Rathnavali Balika Vidyalya received the Overall Trophies in the Boys and Girls Categories respectively. Mr. Ayrat Akhmatov, Prof. Madam Hirimburegama and Mr. Jasinghe all were appreciated the hard work done by Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya with her husband Mr. Bandula Withanage together with her family members towards chess promotional arena.
